The ComplEAT Wrks of Wllm Shkspr
June 30, 2018
6:00pm until 10:00pm
“Do you think because you are virtuous, that there shall be no more cakes and ale?” – William Shakespeare’s Othello: Act 2, Scene 3
Oh! And there shall be cakes and ale (and a live theater performance) on June 30th at Agecroft Hall & Gardens! EAT is partnering with Quill Theatre for the 20th annual Shakespeare Festival, and on June 30th we will be sharing a meal immediately before a performance of The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr.
(DISCLAIMER: The “Compleat Wrks,” for those who may be unaware, is a series of shortened and merged versions of Shakespeare’s body of work, involving audience participation, improvisation, and a good deal of parody, NOT a continuous 50-hour theatrical rendition of all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays…)
In any case, our fine dining affair will take place on the terrace of Agecroft Hall, a 16th Century Tudor home moved brick by brick from Lancashire, England, and reassembled in Richmond, VA in 1926. Dinner will be three courses, paired with wine, and an opening cocktail to kick off the evening. Our meal will be curated to the themes of some of Shakespeare’s plays, drawing inspiration from their contents, Elizabethan and Tudor England, and a desire to present the “human condition” in a culinary format.
We would love for you to join us for this culinary, literary, fun community dining experience. Space is limited, however, so get your tickets before they’re gone! (Tickets include the dining experience + reserved space for the theater performance at Agecroft Hall).
Tickets are $80 TOTAL for the performance + 3-course meal complete with wine pairings and craft cocktail. So support your local arts, your community, and come on out for a great Summer’s eve!!
